SHAUN MATTHEW
Born in London in 1969, Shaun Matthew
studied the tuba at the Royal Northern College of Music from 1991-1995 under Stuart Roebuck and Andrew Duncan.
His conducting studies began at the RNCM in 1992 with Timothy Reynish and Edward Warren, and culminated in
his being awarded the Mortimer Fruber Prize. During his time in Manchester he conducted all the college ensembles,
including performances of the full ballet to Aaron Copland's Appalachian Spring and the summer opera season
production of Benjamin Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Since leaving the RNCM he has worked with many leading orchestras in the North of England, including the Stockport
Symphony Orchestra, the Huddersfield Philharmonic Orchestra and, most recently, the BBC Philharmonic. Shaun works
closely with his own group, the Ethos Ensemble, promoting contemporary music mixed with popular classics. |
